COMBAT ACTION 91ST AND 85TH DIV SECTOR, Gothic Line, Italy; 17-19 Sept, 1944 MS, US infantrymen climb hill and set up 30 cal MG on ridge. Side view, MCU, gunner fires MG. LS, smoke from artillery shells in valley. Soldiers of the 338th Inf Regt move thru hills and wooded area of the Gothic Line. A medic is marching with the men. MCU, smiling infantryman, kneeling, holds rifle and smokes cigarette. Follow shot, LS, soldiers of 362nd Inf Regt, 91st Div followed by pack mules move down slope of ridge. RV, machine gunner fires MG. LS to MS, tank in stationary position fires gun. ELS, smoke rises from shells which have fallen on town of Casanova. Medium tanks and jeeps advance along dusty roads. VS, German prisoners are searched and questioned by US soldier. CUs faces of prisoners. ADVANCE OF BRITISH INFANTRY, 13TH CORPS SECTOR, Ronta Area, Italy; 20 Sept 44 LS, trucks loaded with British troops travel past camera. LS, British shells land in Gothic Line Sector.
