Short scene, Lt Gen Mark W Clark stands at side of road watching US vehicles pass. VS, Gen Clark, Maj Gen Alfred M Gruenther and two unidentified US officers tour city in jeep and on foot. Gen Clark shakes hands with numerous civilians. Excellent CU, Gen Clark. CUs, Italian, US, and British flags on the Palazzo Venezia. VS, statues on buildings; Italian people parading in streets and US Army vehicular traffic. BATTLE FOR ROME, ITALY 4 June 1944 (Paramount News NR 2.61) CUs, MSs, M-4 tanks advance over dusty roads R-L. RVs, tanks on road pass wrecked German equipment lying to side of road. Seq: Rapid loading and firing of 105mm HOW on motor carriage which is under heavy camouflage.
